Salesforce Careers amid the Cost-of-living crisis.

Everything from Energy Bills to car fuel, to food and housing has risen in price. Financial Security within your role is more important than ever. We've had a tough few years to say the least. InflationStockMarket downturns, layoffs, the fall of the Pound Sterling, war, and other bad news soon followed the Pandemic.

How does this affect Salesforce careers?

During a Recession, can you find a job in the SF ecosystem

Any job change comes with a degree of risk and a variety of 'what if' scenarios. When you factor in the current Cost of living crisis, you may find the best strategy is to batten down the hatches and keep on keeping on - or not!

This article aims to give YOU some insight.

What is the cost-of-living crisis?

Since late 2021, the UK has experienced a decline in 'real' disposable incomes. This has been largely caused by high inflation driven by energy prices, which has outpaced wage and benefit increases.

As part of its response to high energy prices, the government announced some measures in early February. Former chancellor Rishi Sunak announced some general policies to support squeezed household budgets in the spring statement.  In late May, Sunak announced a much larger package of assistance for household energy bills. Now that the new #minibudget2022 has been announced, the support package is in motion!

Salesforce Vs The recession
Our previous blog, SALESFORCE CAREERS VS RECESSION, explored how the looming recession could impact the Salesforce infrastructure.

There are a few things that need to happen for a recession to affect Salesforce careers. It would require Salesforce to sell fewer products to new or existing customers, reducing the workload for Salesforce professionals. As an alternative, existing Salesforce customers would have to stop using it as a platform altogether, which is unlikely.

We concluded…
For some Salesforce professionals working at end users, job losses and bankruptcies are almost a certainty, as many other sectors will also be affected. Occasionally, circumstances out of your control may force companies to cut costs, drop Salesforce licenses, and layoff employees. Economic downturns are, of course, inevitable.

The ‘Great Reshuffle’
According to a survey of 2,000 workers, soaring inflation could lead to a "Great Reshuffle" in the UK's job market, as workers seek higher salaries in order to cope with rising living costs.

According to research by jobs website Reed, more than half (55%) of UK workers are actively seeking jobs to raise their salaries due to the UK's cost-of-living crisis.

Need advice on whether it is time to seek greater financial security and bag that next SF role. Here are some questions you should ask yourself...

It's always risky to change jobs and there are always a lot of 'what if' questions to consider.

What if I don’t like my new company, management, or my team?

What if they make redundancies and employ a last in/first out strategy?

What if I don’t enjoy the work as much as I thought I would?

What if, what if, what if….

We're less likely to try something new if we get caught up in the 'what ifs'. Do you think this is a good idea? While letting go of your current job might feel uncomfortable, here's what you need to prioritise:

Would it Make You Happy?
The pros of moving outweigh the cons if you are deeply unhappy in your current role or do not feel challenged or satisfied. The cost of living crisis won't be resolved overnight, it's going to last for some time. Are you okay with that? Would you really want to postpone a decision that could significantly improve your work and personal happiness?

Is the time right for You?

Are there Better Jobs Out There?
Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side - but sometimes it isn't. You might find a better cultural fit, a higher salary and more advancement opportunities in another company. If you don't explore your options, you won't know.

Will You Miss Out on Opportunities?
Right now, there are companies that need your skills. Not three years from now when the economy will have settled down, but right now.

Is there a chance that your dream job is waiting for you and all it takes is a cheeky call to our #SB #ecruiter to bridge the gap?
