FBB - Steadman Brown's Great Salesforce Giveaway, Salesforce Support
In November, we started a giveaway where FBB won 30 hours of free Salesforce support. Fast forward to now, and it's complete. Here's a recap.
Who is Football Beyond Boarders (fbb)?
A charity dedicated to education and social inclusion, FBB works to help young people from socio-economic disadvantage get the skills and grades they need to make a successful transition into adulthood by changing their lives through football. They help kids who are passionate about football but disengaged at school get the skills and grades they need. To do this, FBB provide long-term, intensive support, built around relationships and young people's passions, in the classroom and beyond!
Our giveaway
The giveaway, which we initiated in November, was designed to provide a selected charity with a Salesforce consultant with over ten years of experience. This consultant has multiple Salesforce certifications in the UK. The goal? Getting well needed support in areas that require a little sprucing up in their Salesforce organization.Where does Salesforce sit at FBB
Salesforce is used by many charities, helping many amazing organizations help so many people. Salesforce has been used by FBB since 2017 to track and evaluate income generation and brand functions. It is the Fundraising Team's intention to redesign and develop a Salesforce process guide and system in order to follow best practices, evaluate success / learnings, and improve the income generation efforts of FBB, so that they are better informed by data and more sustainable, thus contributing to the scaling of the business. In honor of this, we offered 30 hours of free #Salesforce support, fully paid for by Steadman Brown. We know it's expensive to hire Salesforce support and At Steadman Brown, we strive to change that!
FREE Salesforce Support
Salesforce support was provided by Salesforce professional, Tobias, A Certified Salesforce Consultant.Following Football beyond Boarders' giveaway victory, Tobias' first task was to meet the team members. In Tobias's words, the team consisted of great people who care about kids having fun while learning essential skills through sports. As a result of this meeting, Tobias gained a deeper understanding of the team's Salesforce concerns. But, since he only had a limited amount of time, he had to prioritize the key items.
While Football Beyond Borders has used Salesforce for several years to measure and track the impact of its work, the platform was underutilized from a sales perspective. Due to the lack of robust Salesforce processes, FBB often relied on several Google sheets to coordinate fundraising events and track / measure relationships.
In their time, they managed to;
- Create an automated naming criteria for opportunities
- Creating instructions to manage multi-year opportunities within the npsp package
- Add some new fields
- Tidy up some excess record types
- Create x2 core dashboards
- Update duplicate rules
- Create a plan to understand how to improve data imports from external systems
- Create a complete write-up of all the changes and recommendations for the future
Here's what FBB had to say.
Tobias helped us to:- Regulate opportunity types and stages - this will allow FBB to now leverage Salesforce to track performance and use better data to inform decision making and planning
- Created template reports - will enable the team to gather real time insight into activity and performance
- Simplify naming criteria for opportunities - will make it easier to compare and review performance across opportunities as we now have regulated stage names
- Improve multi year donation functionality - Tobias cleaned and rebuilt how FBB can record multi year donations. This new method is more appropriate for reviewing financial performance over the long term
- Create User guides - to help embed best practice across the team, Tobias has created a user guide which explains in detail all of these new features and how to best use them. This will play a key role in embedding best practice to ensure standards are maintained.
Efficiency made as a result:
- Improved quality of data being inputted into the platform
- Better ability to review and analyse data
- Improved decision making as a result of the above
- Easier to manage relationships with supporters / donors
A final Note from our director, Lewis Steadman
I tell everyone we do things differently at Steadman Brown, and this is just another example of this. We help charities and businesses doing great things, by sharing our knowledge, network and connections. It’s been fantastic to help Matt and the team at Football Beyond Boarders. Tobias has done a top job, helping mature FBB’s Salesforce processes. For what such a simple gesture from us, has had such a big impact on FBB and all the amazing work they do, which is what its all about!!”As Tobias points out, there is still much that needs to be done at the FBB, but the above are some quick wins in terms of improving the data and how the system is used before any further work can be considered. We are pleased to have helped our FBB and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future!
