What is it like to work with Steadman Brown?

Your experience with SB:

One of the most important parts of our job as the UK’s leading Salesforce recruiters, is to ensure our candidates have the best possible experience working with us. We’re proud to have placed over 500 candidates across the ecosystem, and encourage steps in the right direction for their Salesforce careers.

We welcome all of our candidates to leave feedback after working with us. This not only helps us ensure we’re delivering, but also to identify areas we may be able to improve. The power of feedback is also great for other Salesforce professionals to know they’re in safe hands whilst working with Steadman Brown.

Our second candidate case study introduces Debbie Haile. Debbie is a talented Salesforce Administrator, offering a range of experience and skills that perfectly align with her new role. As someone who hadn’t worked with a recruiter prior to Steadman Brown, not only did our consultant, Jason, help Debbie find a new role, but also challenge her initial perceptions of Salesforce Recruitment.

How did you get into Salesforce?

When we first reached out to Debbie, it was clear she had a very interesting background. Ranging from supporting asylum seekers to teaching, she’s acquired a range of unique skills throughout her career. Unintentionally, a lot of her skills throughout different industries aligned with those of a Salesforce Administrator. Her love for improving efficiencies and streamlining ways of working to make for easier experiences has been apparent throughout every role even if not directly Salesforce related.

There’s no wonder why, when introduced to Salesforce, Debbie massively enjoyed the career shift! She started her learning journey on trailhead, learning the ropes and gaining the certifications to put into real-life business scenarios. Debbie’s journey into Salesforce is proof that you do not have to start in a technical role, and you can make a successful career switch if you put your mind to it.

Your experience with Steadman Brown:

‘I always found my own jobs, and I felt indifferently about recruiters.’

When Steadman Brown initially reached out to Debbie, she was not fully convinced that changing jobs would be right. Having not having properly spoken to a Salesforce recruiter before, and partly due to a lack of self confidence, she was apprehensive about a new opportunity.

Debbie was also unsure whether if she possessed the right skills for the role on the table, but after speaking to Jason, his proper qualification that she could in fact do the role in question, Debbie was able to gain confidence in the opportunity.

‘Jason had the technical understanding of what he was talking about; it wasn’t just a tick box list, it was genuinely understanding if the technical Salesforce skillset was aligned.’

At Steadman Brown, what makes us the leading Salesforce recruiters is the fact that we’re an 100% Salesforce certified team. We make it a key requirement from our recruitment consultants to gain their certs, in order to properly understand their candidates and their job functions.

‘I felt like the client, rather than the product’

After, deciding to just go for it and backed by Jason’s reassurance, Debbie found herself progressing stage by stage and massively succeeding, to be presented with a brilliant job opportunity by the end. Throughout her whole experience, Debbie massively appreciated Jason’s check-ins and genuine care for her as a candidate.

What has been an impactful moment in your career journey so far?

‘A no is just as important as a yes’

When asked about impactful moments in her Salesforce career journey so far, Debbie stressed how important it is to receive the no’s as well as the yes’s. Redirection allows you to consolidate the skills for a job that will end up being the right one, but the no’s are also a part of the journey.

Any advice you’d give to candidates early on in their career?

‘Don’t minimise what you’ve achieved out of fear you may not be as good as someone else.’

We have a tendency to put ourselves down and focus on where we lack rather than what we give. When feeling like we aren’t good enough, don’t listen to the voice in your head, just go for it. You can’t achieve any growth if you’re stuck in the comfort zone!

‘Have confidence in what you build.’

The beauty of salesforce is that everyone builds differently, as long as you stick within your governance and time limits, the end product is what matters.

‘Get your certs!’

Especially when early on in your career, Salesforce Certifications can help you gain confidence, consolidating your knowledge from an academic standpoint. A successful certification may be the push you need to understand how well you can perform, or, it could be a non-negotiable requirement for a job application.

Conclusion:

Debbie got into Salesforce via career shift, and quite a big one. Switching from education to technology and recently starting her brand new role, her Salesforce career is flourishing. Even though her journey hasn’t been purely Salesforce-focused, Debbie’s experience and operational mindset has helped hugely.
